Today we went for a hike at Millersylvania State Park near Olympia, Washington. This park has a campground and is alongside Deep Lake. Before our hike we had a picnic lunch next to the lake. This hike was through the woods, surrounded by huge old trees that were very tall. We hiked on many different trail surfaces, including dirt, rocks, grass, boardwalk, mud and woodchip. The hike was about 2.5 miles long, and Claire was a good little walker the whole way. We heard many different birds, saw squirrels and saw a huge ant hill in the woods.

The hike was relatively kid friendly, with only a few "tricky" spots. There was only one big hill climb, but Claire was able to finish the whole trip without any trouble. She liked all the different, changing trail surfaces. This park is recommended for people looking for a relaxing walk in the woods.
