June 20-24 - Whistler B.C.

We spent 5 days of hiking and exploring Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains in beautiful British Columbia. About 5 hours north of home in Maple Valley, and north of the 50th parallel, we joined Nana Chris and Popa Jamie at Embarc Resort in the Upper Village. It was neat to see all of the 2010 Olympic statues, rings, and other important venues.

We purchased Peak-to-Peak passes and rode across in the Peak-to-Peak gondola from Whistler Mt. to Blackcomb Mt. The hiking on both mountains was limited due to snow amounts. The alpine hiking is better in August. We had a great time and can't wait to revisit.

I won gold, but had to get down to take the photo.

Deep, deep snow in late June.

Gold Creek Pond Loop Hike - 6/1/16 - Snoqualmie Pass Area

Today the kids and I answered the call of the wild by hiking around Gold Creek Pond near Snoqualmie Pass. This was a very kid-friendly hike with great views of snow-capped mountains all around. We attempted to reach this hike in early April and it was snowed in. Today, there was no snow on the ground, and we were treated to a 72F day and sunshine. The trail is a little over a mile around, and we hiked around twice plus explored the surrounding area. Refer to: http://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/gold-creek-pond for more information.

Seabrook - April 30, 2016

We had a brief but wonderful visit to Seabrook this weekend with Max and Ollie and Nana and Poppa Boye. It was great to soak up the sun and feel the cold ocean breeze all day. The time on the beach was wonderful, and the house was cozy and fun. The kids had fun walking the dogs and building a gnome house along the gnome house trail.

Gold Creek Pond Hike - First Attempt - 4/5/16

We tried to access this trail around Gold Creek Pond and found the road to the trail head was snowed in completely. We decided to hike on the snow a little ways to see what we could see. It was very quiet and peaceful in the snowy woods, and was an adventure fur sure. We can't wait to return when the snow has melted and we can access the actual trail around Gold Creek Pond.
