Today we hiked the Red Town Trail near Coal Creek in the Issaquah Alps. This was a loop trail through the woods that include retired coal mine shafts. There is a mine shaft opening still visible, with an informational sign about mining in this area and a restored mining coal car. The trail was well maintained and we saw only a few other hikers on the trail. There is a large "open space" near where the trail crosses Coal Creek. This was a "Levi and Claire friendly" hike; both kids were able to walk the entire way without issue.
Our best "coal miner faces".
